This and That…
Hi Everyone,
This is my first blog of the year and I’d like to wish you all a very Prosperous, Joyous, Healthy
2019!!! My hope is that this year will be one that brings our country closer together and that
we can move forward in a more positive direction. I know it’s almost impossible to please
everyone, but compromise is not a bad word.
Anyway, it looks to be shaping up to be an exciting year. Looking forward to celebrating
Hiroshima’s 40th. Year of recording!! The band’s first recording was released in 1979, so we are
planning a special show for this 40th. Tour, later this year. And we’ll be back in the studio
working on some new material to record, so we’ll let you know when we have some new music
to share with you.
Myself, I’ve been keeping busy performing with some other musical artists. I ended last year by
taking a trip to Japan with my wife Debbie in Nov. to perform with guitarist Yu Ooka. Yu was
able to put a fantastic band together that included saxophonist Michael Paulo, bassist JV
Collier, drummer Kenny Elliott, percussionist Arno Lucas, and myself on keyboards. He also got
legendary jazz/blues singer, Barbara Morrisson to come along. If you haven’t heard Ms.
Morrisson, you need to youtube or google her…she is the real deal!
In Japan we performed at 2 venues…Tokyo Shrine and Yamaha Music Hall in Tokyo. Both
venues were very special to perform at. After our gigs were done, our promoter Keiichi Okada,
took us over to Kyoto and Osaka to do some sightseeing for about 5 days. It was Debbie’s first
time to Japan and to say she loved it, is an understatement. Keiichi-san really took good care of
us…a very generous man with a big heart. If you have a chance to go to Japan, you must…it’s
such a special place and the people are so nice and respectful. We are hoping to go back later
this year.
Oh, don’t forget all the big Sunday events this month being broadcast on TV…Superbowl 2/3,
The 61st. Grammy Awards 2/10, and the 91st. Academy Awards 2/24.
Well, that’s it for now…I hope your year is off to a great one and that we’ll get to see you all at
our Hiroshima shows this year!! Take care…Peace!
Aloha, Kimo |
